Rodarius Marcell Green[2] (born on August 27, 1998) is known as Rod Wave, is an American artist and rapper. [3][4][5The Wave is known for his powerful voice, mixing R&B and hiphop [2and has been described as a pioneer in soul-trap. His 2019 single "Heart on Ice" was a huge hit on YouTube as well as TikTok. It peaked at number 25 on Billboard Hot 100. Wave's first album Ghetto Gospel (1999) reached number 10 on US Billboard 200. The second album Pray 4 Love (2020), peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200, and included the track "Rags2Riches" that reached the top spot at 12 on the Hot 100. The third album, SoulFly (2021), was his debut album and peaked at the top of the charts at number one. It was his debut chart-topping album. The Wave's career began in the year 2016 with the release of his mixtape Hunger Games Vol.1. Prior to joining Alamo Records, he released various mixtapes of his own. On June 14 2019 he released his mixtape PTSD featuring the song "Heart on Ice". The track became a huge success via YouTube as well as TikTok. It ranked at number 25 on Billboard's Hot 100. [7] Wave's debut album, Ghetto Gospel, was released on November 1, 2019. It reached number 10 on the US Billboard 200. The 3rd of April, 2020 Rod Wave released his second album, "Pray 4 Love". It was released at the 2nd spot in the Billboard 200. A deluxe version was released on August 7. 9 of the songs on the album charted in the Billboard Hot 100. "S" (featuring ATR son Son) came in at number 12 on the Hot 100. It became his most-charting song. Wave was part of XXL's 2020 Freshman class in August 11 the 11th of August, 2020. In July 2020, Wave revealed during an interview that they were working on their third album, which was originally scheduled for August 27 and 28, 2020. The singer revealed the tracklist for his album SoulFly on March 6 2021. He also included songs "Street Runner", and "Tombstone" that was his most-charting song which reached the number 11 spot on the Hot 100. [18][19The album also includes the song "Tombstone." Wave released the hit song "Nirvana" in the latter half of 2021. It sparked some controversy as many thought it was a suicide-song, which Wave has strongly denied. [20]
