Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic is also a public speaking event organizer. Feminist Frequency is a web site with video and blogs on the representation of women in pop culture. Anita Sarkeesian has been a journalist, critic, and award-winning feminist over a decade. Feminist Frequency is an educational and non-profit site that examines female representations in narratives from popular culture. She's dedicated to breaking down stereotypes of women as they appear in popular media. In addition, she strives to bring awareness to the online abuse directed towards women as well as marginalized groups of individuals. Sarkeesian who has a Master's in Political and Social Theory from York University, is also well-known as a sought-after public speaking. She has delivered speeches at the TEDxWomen festival as well as United Nations Broadband Working Group to Gender. Interested in issues concerning gender and feminism since her early years, she founded her own website Feminist Frequency in 2009, while being a student at the university. A woman who was ambitious planned to create a web-series that would examine the role of gender in gaming. However, she found herself as the victim of a harassment online campaign.
